WEB GEMS- Top 3rd: Jose Reyes robbed Bret Boone of a base hit.
Josh Phelps smacked 3 homeruns at the ballpark as the Dart Weasels won in
dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Jefferson Park Penguins by the count
of 8 to 7.
Dart came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
as they scored 5 runs on 4 base hits. The critical plate appearance was by
Mike Lowell who excited the crowd when he lashed a single scoring two
baserunners. Dart had 10 hits for the afternoon.
The victory was credited to Gary Knotts(7-2) who went 2 innings, allowing 1
run. Armando Benitez(2-5) absorbed the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an
inning giving up 2 hits and 2 walks.
'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Phelps noted. 'It was
looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it
really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there
at the end!'
